Notepad++ security vulnerability: Update to 8.8.9 now installed via RMM script
In some cases, the integrated updater of the Notepad++ editor downloaded manipulated installation files from the internet, thereby installing malware on affected systems. According to the Notepad++ developers, the cause is an intercepted and redirected update traffic from the WinGUp updater.
Since the vulnerability is located in the updater, Notepad++ must be updated outside of its built-in update function. For this purpose, we have created a central script in Managed RMM that updates Notepad++ to version 8.8.9.
