femNET: a necessary step towards more diversity in IT

femNET: open-minded women's network in the SYNAXON partner circle

Within the SYNAXON Group, we experience every day how vibrant and effective our network is. More than 3,300 partner companies are part of our network, and every new initiative brings additional benefits – be it through the exchange of expertise, joint projects, or fresh ideas. Nevertheless, one fact remains: the IT industry remains heavily male-dominated – a picture that is also reflected in our own network. Building on this, an initiative was developed within SYNAXON last year that created a network for women within the SYNAXON partner circle.

Participatory corporate culture leads to self-initiative projects

Our corporate culture continually encourages employees to question processes, rethink rules, and initiate innovations. It is precisely this spirit that gave rise to femNET – an important initiative and a necessary step for the transformation of the IT channel. The reasons are obvious:

  • Alleviate the skills shortage: We cannot afford to forgo half the talent pool.
  • Diversity as a success factor: Studies show that mixed teams are more creative, productive and resilient.

femNET as application topic for IT Cooperation of the Year

femNET is our SYNAXON initiative for more women in IT – and that's why we're entering it in the "IT Collaboration of the Year" category at the 2025 CRN Channel Awards. Because diversity needs visibility. It's not enough to simply celebrate individual role models – we must also empower the many women who work every day in system houses, IT departments, and projects. Only when this majority is included can an environment emerge in which women truly feel welcome and IT can realize its full potential.

SYNAXON voices behind the initiative

As Europe's largest IT association, we see it as our responsibility to do more than just talk about equality. We want to create structures that broadly support women, increase their visibility, and enable genuine participation.

As long as "normal" women—professionals, career changers, and trainees—are not included, the climate in our industry will not change. Anyone who truly wants to promote women in IT must involve everyone.

femNET offers various formats that are easily accessible and enable diversity. In doing so, we create not just a network, but an infrastructure that empowers women, gives them guidance, and encourages them to become visible in the industry.
