Social commitment of
SYNAXON

We are close

A merry Christmas surrounded by family and lots of presents – a picture-perfect vision that so often doesn't correspond to reality. This is also the case in our neighborhood, at the Rietberg Youth Center. Many of the children and young people cared for there spend the holidays in their residential groups due to their social environment. For them, Christmas presents aren't something they take for granted. It was clear to us: We could do something here and bring joy to the children!

We are Christmas elves

Since the first Christmas campaign with the Rietberg Youth Center in 2016, the children and young people there have been writing a wish list to their unknown SYNAXON elf every year. This allows each elf to select the perfect gift for the child, lovingly wrap it, and bring it to the collection point at headquarters. From there, the SYNAXON elves make their way with the gifts to the residential groups, where they are eagerly awaited every time. And it is precisely this anticipation that makes the campaign a beloved tradition and a matter close to the hearts of both us and the Youth Center.

Anticipation is the greatest joy

»"Filling out wish lists is also nice. You have to write the name on it so it doesn't get mixed up. It's great that you can write multiple wishes on it, so it's a surprise what you get."«

»"The visits from SYNAXON, where the gifts were given, were always nice. Unfortunately, no one could come because of the coronavirus [2020/2021] [...]."«

The Rietberg Youth Center

Fear, despair, and hopelessness – these are feelings encountered daily by the youth welfare service. More than 200 employees here strive to find a solution, no matter the scale of the problem. They are happy to take bold, unconventional approaches with the goal of reuniting children and young people with their families. In addition to working with parents and families, the youth welfare service relies on an intensive educational and therapeutic approach and involves children in all processes. It offers a home and support through a diverse range of services, ranging from recreational activities to residential projects, depending on the needs of the children.
