Goal

This seminar covers Azure's hybrid capabilities, the migration of virtual and physical server workloads to Azure IaaS, and the management and security of Azure VMs running Windows Server. Other topics include high availability, troubleshooting, and disaster recovery. Furthermore, administrative tools and technologies such as Windows Admin Center, PowerShell, Azure Arc, Azure Automation Update Management, Microsoft Defender for Identity, Azure Security Center, Azure Migrate, and Azure Monitor are presented.

The seminar can be used to prepare for certification as Windows Server Hybrid Administrator can be used.

Requirement

  • Experience managing the Windows Server operating system and Windows Server workloads in on-premises scenarios, including AD DS, DNS, DFS, Hyper-V, and file and storage services.
  • Experience with key networking technologies such as IP addressing, name resolution, and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)
  • Experience working with Microsoft Hyper-V and basic server virtualization concepts
  • Awareness of basic best practices in the field of security and security-related technologies (firewalls, encryption, multi-factor authentication, SIEM/SOAR)
  • Basic knowledge of Windows Server-based on-premises compute and storage technologies (failover clustering, storage spaces)
  • Initial experience with implementing and managing IaaS services in Microsoft Azure
  • Basic knowledge of Azure Active Directory
  • Practical experience with Windows client operating systems such as Windows 10 or Windows 11
  • First experiences with Windows PowerShell
  • Understanding the following concepts in relation to Windows Server technologies:
    • High availability and disaster recovery
    • automation
    • Troubleshooting
