Unlawful discrimination under the General Equal Treatment Act (AGG) can occur as early as the job posting stage and may lead to claims for damages. To avoid accusations of discrimination, job postings should, for example, not request a resume or a photo of the applicant. A rejected applicant of southern European or Mediterranean descent could otherwise claim that they were rejected because of their skin color. For these reasons, only the standard application documents should be requested.
