Think you've got everything under control? Think again. Your RMM isn't showing you the whole truth.
“25% of the devices in your RMM are faulty.”
Martin Feilke and Sven-Jendrik Timmermann caused quite a stir with this statement during their presentation at the SYNAXON Managed Services Summit 2025. At the same time, it also prompted reflection, because if a quarter of the systems are incorrectly represented in the RMM, it means, quite simply: you're not seeing what you should be seeing.
The RMM is the central tool of an MSP. It ensures that systems are monitored, problems are detected, and ideally, resolved automatically before your customer even notices. At least, that's the theory. In practice, however, the picture is often quite different: Many endpoints are not properly connected or lose their connection during operation without anyone noticing.
The consequences?
Outages, security vulnerabilities, and consequently unnecessary time loss and avoidable costs. Even more frustrating is that most of these problems could be easily fixed technically. However, clear processes, regular monitoring, and suitable tool support are lacking.
