How-to: Virus detection in scripts

Managed RMM

Some partners have reported that their antivirus software is flagging our scripts. We'd like to briefly explain why this is happening and how you should deal with it.

Increased threat levels

The global threat situation remains very tense and is not expected to ease anytime soon. For this reason, certain actions of programs and scripts are sometimes scrutinized more closely, or a false alarm is occasionally accepted.

Certain scripts, such as “Crystal Disk Info”, download modules or program components from the internet during execution. This action alone can be considered a “dangerous action”, which leads to a warning from the antivirus solution.

Our recommendation

  1. Replace a basic antivirus solution with a modern endpoint security system. Our managed endpoint security can perform a deep inspection to determine that the scripts are not viruses or Trojans.
  2. Exclude the central RMM scripts folder from your antivirus solution's scan. See the relevant help article for more details.
