New Windows GA Agent with Patch Management Update

N-able has released a new Windows GA Agent, v10.11.10. This latest agent includes an important update to the RMM patch management functionality to resolve a patch detection issue. This update will be automatically rolled out by us to all Monitoring & Management Partners.

Description and solution of the problem:

On November 24th, N-able released a new version of its Patch Management Engine (PME v2.4.0.5136), and its devices were automatically updated according to PME's standard deployment practices. Unfortunately, an issue was discovered that affects PME's ability to detect missing patches, leading to inconsistent scan results. This issue is not immediately apparent from the RMM dashboard, as the patch scan may still complete successfully.

To resolve this issue, N-able has created a new Windows GA Agent, version 10.11.10. This agent includes a PME update (version 2.4.1.5153) that fixes the problem with the scan results. In this case, the automatic update mechanism of PME cannot resolve the issue, and the new agent is required.

To ensure that all devices with patch management functionality correctly detect and install patches, we are working with N-able on the ability to automatically update affected devices to the new GA agent. This process starts today.

N-able release notes – N-able RMM: New Windows GA Agent with a Patch Management Update – Action Required

Update from December 17, 2021

As of today, we have an update rate of 57% across all Windows machines. Unfortunately, this is still far too low. The update command hasn't reached some devices. We are currently working with the manufacturer to resolve this issue. The vast majority of machines have already received the command but haven't yet been able to process the update correctly. This can happen, for example, if the device hasn't been switched on (long enough).

We would like to reiterate the urgency of this update. Failure to update the agent may result in patch management malfunctioning. Please ensure that all devices are powered on at least once to process the update command.
