QNAP NAS at risk

Use managed backup in the cloud!

On January 7, 2022, QNAP, a manufacturer of Network Attached Storage (NAS) solutions, issued a product security statement. Ransomware and brute-force attacks target virtually all network devices. Devices exposed to the internet without any protection are most vulnerable. QNAP urges all QNAP NAS users to follow the security settings instructions below to ensure the security of their QNAP network devices.

The BSI also warns that a remote attacker can exploit several vulnerabilities in QNAP NAS to carry out a cross-site scripting attack and execute arbitrary code.

Alternative Cloud Backup

The best-practice approach of many partners is: Cloud first!
Secure your customers' infrastructure in the cloud. This offers the highest level of protection in terms of GDPR compliance. Afterwards, you can store certain data on a local NAS to enable faster recovery. Of course, the NAS should be integrated into your regular monitoring system. As a third layer of security, you can also back up individual backups locally (second partition in the PC, additional hard drives in the server, etc.).

These and all other approaches can of course be implemented with our Managed Cloud Backup. Our specialists are experts in this field, so just get in touch!
