Update for our Managed RMM Partners

N-able Release Update: Patch Management Engine (PME) v2.10GA

Our RMM manufacturer N-able has announced the following:

A new patch management engine was released yesterday.

This version focuses on the overall patching experience by improving the handling of two common device-level problems.

  1. We've improved how Windows Update Agent scan results are handled when the same patch and GUID appear more than once. Affected devices displayed the error. „"An element with the same key has already been added."“ In the scan results for these devices, we observed that the scans contained patches with the same GUIDs more than once. Since GUIDs should always be unique, an error message was displayed because we could not add them back to the dictionary. While this issue originated in the WUA itself, we were able to resolve it in PME, eliminating the need to reset the WUA and its components for each device.
  2. We have changed the caching of certain files by placing them in the filecacheservice-folders instead of the operating system's default folders. Through support cases, we've found that devices don't always have permission to save files in certain folders, such as... %path%temp to save, which affected the entire patching experience. The patch now loads these files into our filecacheserviceDownload the folder to improve the overall experience.

Important: This update also fixes an issue with the patch status. To update the correct status, you need to re-save the patch policies for the device. This will correct the device's patch status in your dashboard after the next detection scan.
